Cloud Based Microsoft Office – Early 2010?

-Rashidi Barnett
Yesterday, Microsoft(MSFT) announced that Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote will have a new home in the cloud.  I previously had concerns on how MSFT was going to handle/compete with products such as Zoho, Google Docs and SlideRocket and IBM’s Lotus Symphony.  Not to say that they couldn’t, just when were they going to release [...]

SlideRocket’s Open for Business!

-Rashidi Barnett

I’ve been quite anxious to test this out. I was supposed to be on the beta list, but I never got to test it out. SlideRocket is a presentation tool, much like Microsoft’s PowerPoint.

A few minutes ago, I accidently, kicked out my power cord to my desktop.  After my pc booted back up, I [...]

I decided to start this blog to expound on my thoughts and views on the browser becoming a platform for development (or browser as an operating environment). In a conversation with Portfolio Magazine contributing editor Kevin Maney at The Churchill Club in Palo Alto, Calif, Marc Andressen, the founder of Netscape Communications, said [...]

About

This blog will explore the thoughts and ideas of browser as a platform (BAAP). The implication is that potentially, the software based OS (Windows, MAC, etc), can go away and will be replace by a Browser based OS. We already see the trend with applications such as Google Docs , and SlideRocket that are replacements for Microsoft Office. We will review products and applications that are trying to replace desktop applications.
